Ingredients:-

  • Oats – ¾ cup
  • Water – ½ cup
  • Green peas – ½ cup
  • Shallots – 6
  • Garlic Cloves – 4
  • Ginger – 1-inch piece
  • Cumin – ½ tsp
  • Green Chilies – 2
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Pepper Powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Banana leaf/baking sheet – 1
  • Oil (to grease pan)
  • Sesame seeds (to sprinkle over oats chilla)

Instructions:-

  • Step 1: To a mixing bowl add ¾ cup of oats, and ½ cup of water. Mix well with a spoon and allow to soak for 10 minutes.
  • Step 2: To a vegetable chopper add ½ cup green peas, 6 shallots, 4 garlic cloves, 1-inch ginger, and ½ teaspoon cumin. Coarsely chop and transfer to a flat plate or surface.
  • Step 3: Next, add soaked oats to the same plate. Also add 2 chopped green chilies, a few coriander leaves, ½ teaspoon pepper powder, ½ teaspoon turmeric powder, and salt to taste. combine well with bare hands.
  • Step 3: To spread the dough, use a banana leaf, baking sheet, or polythene sheet. (Here we used a banana leaf.) Grease the banana leaf and grab a handful of dough. Spread it evenly into the shape of a roti.
  • Step 4: Heat a frying pan on medium flame and grease the pan with oil. Now flip the leaf on the pan and carefully detach the dough from the leaf without breaking. Drizzle oil over the edges of the oats chilla. Then sprinkle some sesame seeds top over it. Slightly press down with a spatula to seal the seeds. flip over and repeat the same.
  • Once it turns golden remove it from the pan. Continue the procedure with the remaining dough. Oats chilla is ready to serve with pickle or chutney. Thank you.
