Ingredients:-

  • Chana Dal – 1 cup
  • Water – 2 Cups
  • Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
  • Ghee – 2 tbsp
  • Wheat Flour – 1 cup
  • All Purpose Flour – 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Grated Jaggery – ¾ cup

Preparation:-

  • Step: 1 To a pressure cooker add 1 cup rinsed and strained chana dal, 2 cups of water, ½ teaspoon turmeric powder, and 1 tablespoon ghee. Close the pressure cooker and cook up to 10 whistles. Set aside.
  • Step: 2 To a mixing bowl, add 1 cup wheat flour, 1 cup all-purpose flour, salt, ½ teaspoon turmeric powder, and 2 tablespoons of oil. Crumble and mix well. Gradually pour water and knead to form a smooth dough. next, add 1 tablespoon oil over the dough and knead again till smooth. Allow resting for 30 minutes.
  • Step: 3. Now strain the soft and mushy cooked dal from the pressure cooker through a filter and transfer it to a grinding jar. Then add ¾ cup grated jaggery and blend smoothly. 
  • Step: 4 Heat a frying pan on medium flame and add 1 tablespoon of ghee. Next, add the blended mixture to the frying pan. Cook on low flame for 10 minutes or until the mixture leaves the pan. Once it reaches perfect consistency remove it from the pan and transfer it to a plate. allow cooling and Make Medium sized balls out of it. Now the filling called Puran is ready.
  • Step: 5. Next, from the dough, make medium-sized balls out of it. Spread the balls to form cups and place Puran balls into them. Cover the puran with dough from all sides and seal at the center. Roll and flatten the dough with your fingers to equally spread the filling. Then roll out to form bigger-sized rotis.
  • Step: 6. Heat a tawa on medium flame and transfer puran poli to the same tawa. cook for 1 minute on medium flame then flips over. Once it starts to puff spread ghee over poli. Again flip and cook for 1 minute. Once the brown patches appear the delicious, yummy puran poli is ready. Thank you.
