This dish is a veganized version of the traditional Nepalese dumplings called momos. The filling is made from carrots, cabbage, spring onions, and spices like green chilies, ginger, and garlic. The dough for the momos is made from all-purpose flour, salt, vegetable oil, and water.
The dough should be kneaded well before it’s rolled out into thin rounds. The rounds are then filled with the filling mixture and sealed with a pleat in the middle to create an attractive shape. Lastly, these momos are steamed in a steamer till momos are cooked well.

Ingredients:-

  • All Purpose Flour – 1 Cup
  • Salt as required
  • Water
  • Oil – 1 tbsp + 1 tsp
  • Garlic (minced) – 2 tbsp
  • Ginger (minced) – 1 tbsp
  • Green Chilies (chopped) – 2
  • Spring Onion bulb – 1tbsp
  • Carrot (Grated) – ½ Cup
  • Cabbage – 1 Cup
  • Spring onion (green part) – 3 tbsp
  • Pepper Powder – ½ tsp
  • Soy sauce – 1 tsp
  • Salt

Methods.

  • Step 1: To a mixing bowl add 1 cup of all-purpose flour, and salt. pour enough water and knead to form a smooth dough. Add 1 teaspoon of oil to the dough and knead again till smooth. Allow resting for 15 minutes.
  • Step 2: To make fillings in momo, Heat a frying pan on medium flame and add 1 tablespoon of oil, 2 tablespoons of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of ginger minced, 2 chopped green chilies, 1 tablespoon of spring onion bulb, Saut for 1 minute.
  • Next, add ½ cup of grated carrot, 1 cup of cabbage, 3 tablespoons of spring onions greens part, ½ teaspoon of pepper powder, salt, and 1 teaspoon of soy sauce, mix well on medium heat and switch off the flame. The stuffing is ready.
  • Step 3: For making momo make small balls out of dough and dip them into flour then spread into puri size. make thin and transparent as possible.
  • Step 4: Place 2 teaspoons of stuffing at the center for pleating momo and start making pleats from one end. join pleats press to seal. Attach the unpleated edges to each other by slightly pressing them. Seal the pleated edges too to form a leaf shape.
  • Step 5: Repeat the same with the remaining dough and place them in a steamer one by one. Cover the steamer and steam for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes open the steamer and the momos are well cooked.
  • Transfer the momos to a serving plate and serve with momo chutney. Thank you.
