Step-by-step instructions to prepare Tomato Rasam

Ingredients:-

  • Garlic – 2 pods
  • Pepper Corn –  1 tbsp
  • Tamarind – Lemon-Sized ball
  • Tomato – 2
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek Seeds – 1 tsp
  • Green Chili – 1
  • Dry Red Chili – 2
  • Curry Leaves
  • Asafoetida – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
  • Chili Powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Water – 3 cups
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Jaggery – ¼ tsp

Preparation:-

  • Step 1. Add 2 garlic pods to a crusher and crush finely then set aside. next, grind 2 tablespoons of peppercorns and set aside. Next, soak lemon-sized tamarind in ¼ cup water and mash to extract pulp. Strain the tamarind water into a bowl and set aside. Next, take two tomatoes and cut them into small pieces. Transfer tomato pieces into a bowl and mash the potato. Set aside.
  • Step 2. Heat a kadai on medium flame and heat 2 tablespoons of oil, then add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds, 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds, 1 green chili, 2 dry red chilies, and curry leaves. Saute for a few seconds. Next, add crushed garlic and pepper. Cook on medium heat for 1 minute.
  • Step 3. After that, add ½ teaspoon asafoetida, ½ teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon coriander powder, ¼ teaspoon fenugreek powder, and salt to taste. sauté for a few seconds.
  • Step 4. Add mashed tomatoes to the kadai and mix well. Next, pour tamarind extract, 3 cups of water, salt, and coriander leaves. simmer, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Step 5. After 10 minutes, open the cover and add ¼ teaspoon of jaggery. Mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves. Tomato rasam is ready to serve. Enjoy the appetizer drink with rice Thank you.
