What is Surnali Dosa?

Surnali Dosa, also known as Surnoli in some regions, is a traditional sweet dosa originating from the coastal districts of Karnataka. It is especially popular among Konkani-speaking communities and is often prepared during festivals, special family breakfasts, and religious occasions.

Unlike the crisp South Indian dosa, Surnali Dosa is thicker, softer, and naturally sweet. The addition of jaggery and coconut gives it a rich flavor, while turmeric lends its beautiful golden color. The batter is fermented overnight, resulting in a light and fluffy texture that melts in the mouth.

This authentic recipe celebrates the simplicity of homemade cooking while preserving generations of culinary tradition.
