The Best Chana Chaat – Authentic Indian Street Food at Home
Step-by-step instructions
Ingredients:-
For Making Chana Masala.
- Cooked Chana/Chickpea – 2 cups
- Chili powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
- Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
- Chole Masala – ½ tsp
- Chaat Masala – ½ tsp
- Garam Masala – ½ tsp
- Salt
- Water – ½ cup
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Minced Ginger – 1 tsp
- Minced Garlic – 1 tsp
- Ketchup – 1 & ½ tbsp
For Chana Chaat
- Onion – 1
- Tomato – 1 medium
- Green Chili – 2
- Coriander Leaves
- Lemon Juice – ½ lemon
- Sev – Handfull
Preparation:-
For Chana Masala :
- Soak 1 cup of Kala Chana/ Chickpea Overnight. Next day Pressure Cook Chana with 2 cups of water and salt. 6-7 Whistles medium flame.
- Next, make Chana Masala, for that in a bowl add the masalas as mentioned in the ingredients list. Pour half a cup of water, combine, and set aside.
- Next to a heated pan add 2 tbsp oil, to the hot oil add 1 tsp of cumin, and cook until it splutters.
- Next, add in ginger and garlic, saute for a few seconds then add in the masala Mix. Simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until the raw smell of masala goes off.
- Add cooked chana, Along with 1 & ½ tbsp of Ketchup, Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. After 2 minutes switch off the flame and transfer the chana masala to a bowl
For Making Chana Chaat
- To the bowl of chana masala add chopped onion, tomato, Green chili, Coriander Leaves, Lemon Juice, and a handful of Sev.
- Mix all the ingredients and the chaat is ready to serve
