Heat a Kadai on medium flame and add 2 tablespoons of oil, and 20 garlic cloves then saute for 1 minute. add 25 shallots and cook until golden color, next add 2 tomatoes chopped and cook until it turns soft. Now add 15 dry red chilies, and ¼ cup coconut pieces. Cover and cook until tomato turns soft.
Open the lid and see well-cooked ingredients, now switch off the flame.
Transfer cooked ingredients into a grinding jar and add 2 tablespoons of roasted gram, grind to a smooth paste.
Now heat the same Kadai on medium flame and add 2 tablespoons of oil, 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds, and 3 chopped shallots, saute until golden, and add 2 dry red chilies, and curry leaves, and saute well.
Now add the ground chutney into Kadai, and add 2 cups of water, if too thick add more water and mix well. Allow simmering, next, add salt, and 1 tablespoon of yogurt, then mix well. Simmer for 2 minutes and switch off the flame.
Now the delicious tomato chutney is ready. Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy with idli or dosa. Thank you.
