  • Roasted Chana Dal: ½ cup
  • Urad Dal: 1 tbsp
  • Onion: 1 (medium)
  • Garlic: 7 cloves
  • Oil: 4 tbsp.
  • Dry Red Chili: 4
  • Curry Leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Tamarind: 1 small piece
  • Water:  2 & ½ cups
  • Mustard seeds: 1 tsp.
  • Shallots: 4
  • Chili powder:  ½ tsp.

Preparation:-

  • Step 1: Heat a frying pan on medium flame and add ½ cup of roasted chana dal and 1 tablespoon of urad dal. Roast for 2 minutes. Roast until aromatic and transfer to a grinding jar.
  • Step 2: To the same heated frying pan, add 1 chopped onion, 7 cloves of garlic, 2 tablespoons of oil, and 3 dry red chilies. Saute well until the onion becomes soft. Transfer the mixture to the same grinding jar. Finally, add curry leaves, salt, a small piece of tamarind, and ½ cup of water. Grind well until smooth paste forms.
  • Step 3: Add 2 tablespoons of oil, 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds, and 4 shallots to a heated frying pan. Saute until golden color forms. Then add 1 dry red chili, curry leaves, and ½ teaspoon of chili powder. Saute well and pour the ground paste into the pan. Next, add 2 cups of water (pour as required to adjust consistency) and salt. Simmer for 1 minute. Now the delicious chutney is ready to serve. Enjoy it with idli or dosa. Thank you.
