Step-by-step instructions to prepare rice flour roti

Ingredients:-

  • Water - 1 cup
  • Rice flour - 1 cup
  • salt
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin - 1 tsp

Instructions:-

1. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, enough salt, and 1 tbsp of oil; stir well and allow to simmer.

2. Once the water starts bubbling, add 1 cup of rice flour and mix well until the water is completely absorbed into the flour. Allow to stay for 2 mins in the pan keep mixing Add 1 tsp of cumin seeds, as they help add flavor to the roti.

3. After 2 minutes, transfer the flour to a flat surface. While it's still warm, knead the dough by sprinkling warm water over it. Knead for 5 minutes to form a smooth dough.

4. Make small balls out of the dough. Now, let's spread the balls. Dust the work surface with flour and spread the dough ball using a rolling pin. since rice flour is gluten-free It's hard to get smooth edges, so to get a neat round shape, cut it using a cutter or any round tool. After cutting, shape the edges using the rolling pin. Continue the same with the remaining dough.

5. Now let's cook the roti. Place the rolled-out dough or roti on a heated tawa, wait a few seconds, and flip. Slightly press it using the spatula once the roti starts to puff, flip it, and cook for a few more seconds or until brown patches appear. If required, spread ghee or oil at this stage and remove it from the pan. Repeat the same with the remaining rotis.

6. The roti has turned out really soft. Enjoy the roti with any side dish or raita.
