Step-by-step instructions to prepare jowar masala puttu
Ingredients:-
- Jowar flour – 1 cup
- Salt to taste
- Water
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Garlic & Green chili crushed
- Onion – 1 medium
- Curry leaves
- Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
- Crushed Chili -½ tsp
- Grated Coconut – ½ cup
Instructions:-
- Step 1. Fry 1 cup jowar flour on a heated fry pan on a medium flame for 5-6 minutes. Stir continuously, once it turns aromatic transfer it to a bowl.
- Step 2. To the same bowl add salt, sprinkle water, crumble, and mix. Continue to sprinkle water and mix until the flour turns moist. Once it turns crumbly texture press flour between fist, if flour should hold a shape then it is a perfect texture.
- Step 3. Next, heat a frying pan on medium flame and add 2 tablespoons of oil, i teaspoon of crushed garlic & green chili, 1 medium onion, and curry leaves. Cook for 2 minutes and again add ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder, ½ teaspoon crushed chili, ½ cup grated coconut, and salt. Cook for 1 minute and remove from the flame. transfer the masala to the jowar flour bowl. Mix well
- Step 4. Layer grated coconut in bowl/ puttu maker, next layer flour over the coconut. (Do not press while filling.). Fill the bowl to the top. Place the bowl in a steamer and steam for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes transfer jowar puttu to a serving plate and enjoy. Thank you.
